With more than 20 years of experience in senior living and a long history with the Clarendale brand, Mark brings an extraordinary blend of leadership, warmth, and vision to Clarendale Clayton. His arrival signals an exciting new era – one defined by connection, compassion, and a commitment to excellence.
A Career Built on Compassion and Experience
Mark’s dedication to serving older adults began more than two decades ago. Since 2001, he’s worked across every level of senior living – from Culinary Director to Licensed Nursing Home Administrator to Executive Director – gaining insight and empathy at every step. He’s led skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living, and independent living communities with a steady hand and a servant’s heart.
A 29-year Veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves, Mark retired as a Command Sergeant Major, bringing with him a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and respect for those he serves.
His impressive educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Management, a Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in Project Management, and a Master of Business Administration degree. He’s currently completing his Doctor of Business Administration with a focus on Healthcare Management.
A Long-Standing Relationship With the Clarendale Brand
Clarendale Clayton is far from unfamiliar territory for Mark. He played a key role in launching Clarendale of St. Peters in 2020 and later contributed to the success of Clarendale of Schererville and Clarendale of Chandler. His familiarity with the Clarendale culture runs deep – and it’s personal.
His understanding of the brand’s resident-first philosophy makes him uniquely equipped to carry Clarendale Clayton forward with purpose and passion.

As Executive Director, Mark is committed to elevating every aspect of community life at Clarendale Clayton. He envisions a place where connection and care are at the heart of everything – from personalized service to meaningful engagement.
“My goal is to create a place where everyone feels connected, valued, and cared for,” he says. One of Mark’s key priorities is implementing the C.A.R.E. framework for team training:
- C = Clear, transparent communication with active listening
- A = Accountability to residents, families, and team members
- R = Respect for all individuals
- E = Empowerment to make decisions that enhance residents’ lives
These principles, along with Clarendale’s ten Hospitality Promises, shape a culture of excellence, warmth, and responsiveness.
He’s also committed to fostering engagement by creating collaborative activities for residents and staff – strengthening bonds and building community from the inside out.

Why did you choose senior living?
“I’ve always had a passion for serving others,” Mark shares. “That passion has guided my career and continues to shape how I lead.”
What excites you most about Clarendale Clayton?
“Clarendale has always felt like home to me,” he says. “It’s where mission, values, and people come together in the most meaningful ways.”
Do you have a favorite moment so far?
“I’m still relatively new, but one recent highlight was Clarendale Clayton’s top-10 finish in the national Pump It for Parkinson’s event, raising over $350,000 in support.“
